We only use BEHR Premium Waterproofing Stain and Sealer.  It is 100% acrylic based and is good for 25 years on vertical surfaces (fences, siding, signs, etc.) in all-weather protection.  However, not all surfaces of our signs are covered, so they are not recommended or warrantied for use in the elements.  Nevertheless, they should hold up reasonably well.
